With today’s modern technology and design, it's easier to select the ideal flooring for your house. There're 4 different types of flooring, each with its own positives and negatives.

Wooden flooring
Wooden flooring is the simplest, and the most conventional, among the different categories. Wood is basic and long lasting, but still has the same beauty contained in other materials. The simplicity of plank or the intricacy of parquet can lend any room a feeling of warmth and beauty. However, due to its common, but easily-dwindling source, it is rather expensive, but there are other affordable options which have the same qualities and characteristics of wood.

Wood materials include laminate, which is wood combined and covered with plastic; bamboo, which is one of the toughest and sturdiest form of wood available; and cork, which is the most readily available wood available today, and could be bought in tile or plank form.

These alternatives still have the numerous characteristics of wood, but costs considerably less simply because that they are readily available; therefore, it has little impact to the environment.

Consider: how frequently the area will be subjected to moisture, as neither hard wood nor laminate are durable in wet environments.

Hard flooring
For an opulent and sophisticated look, tile and natural stone is hard to beat. However, this is a more costly option, even more than wood materials.
Tile varieties include terracotta, quarry and porcelain; while stone is normally marble or slate.
When to consider: do not choose this type of flooring if you generally handle heavy objects, as it could crack and chip the materials.

Resilient floorings
Resilient flooring is hard and can withstand low impact, and is commonly made of rubber or vinyl. The most common use is in athletic halls and dance studios. It has the benefit of ensuring a soft landing, so, is also suitable for children’s play areas.

When to consider: definitely not suitable for use at home, but it can be used in fitness gyms and training halls.

Seamless chemical flooring
This is mostly for industrial usage, thus will most commonly be found in factories and laboratories. As the name implies, this is used in liquid form which then hardens to create a smooth seamless finish. It is particularly ideal for use in areas which are frequently washed and need to be non slip and kept sterile.

The materials used to manufacture this kind of flooring are epoxy compounds, polyester, urethane or latex.

When to consider: again, it's not recommended for use at home, due to the reasons stated above.
